Professional Web Design
Janet S. Joyce, Ph.D. has been a practicing clinical psychologist for 20+ years and just recently relocated her private practice to Santa Rosa, California. In an attempt to grow her client base, I created a professional website for her practice. The site, designed using Wordpress, showcases her specialties in mother daughter relationships and couples therapy, as well as featuring several of her professional articles and blog entries. Dr. Joyce specifically wanted her website to be calming and welcoming, so I created this aesthetic through the use of earth tones , low opacity, and soft gradients. PR Case Study
Girls Rock hosted its first ever Girls to the Front Benefit Gala to raise money for the organizations programming. I wrote this case study as a summary of public relations efforts made to maximize both attendance at the event and fundraising efforts. -
I Heart UCSB
Above is a postcard I designed for a campus wide marketing campaign. In the wake of the tragic shooting in May of 2014, UC Santa Barbara was intent on increasing school spirit and moral within the student body. To accomplish our marketing goal, my team conceptualized the I Heart UCSB campaign, colloquially known among students as I Ducking Love UCSB. We purchased and named 10 giant rubber ducks, which were distributed to the student body and passed around--if a friend ducked you, you would make a video for social media stating your favorite thing about UCSB, then duck someone else. -
Writing Dept Rebrand
The UCSB Writing Program was looking to rebrand itself and requested that I, along with another colleague, create a design proposal. Our logo represents a duality--the hand is writing, but is also in the shape of a P, so it is physically writing a P for program. To remain consistent with the UC brand, the colors used are the official secondary colors of the UC system. The fonts used are variations of the Open Sans font family. Each track of the Professional Writing Minor has been assigned a distinct color, all of which are combined to compose the colors underlining the overarching Writing Program logo. -
Personal Branding
A successful personal brand should embody an individuals capabilities, values, and personality, all while conveying a clean and professional image. For my personal business card, I chose to incorporate water colors to illustrate my affinity for art and creativity. My personal logo is comprised of an r and a j, which are my first and last initials. More than that, though, the letters double as quotation marks, which symbolizes my love of writing. Combinations of this water color imagery and my personal logo appear consistently across all of my designs, working in tandem to create a consistent personal brand. -
Recreation Rebrand
When the UCSB Department of Recreation decided to rebrand, I was brought on board as lead designer and assigned the task of creating a new logo to embody their goals and values. The Department of Recreation promotes physical, mental, and emotional health in students, so I chose to represent these three aspects of the brand through the use of a triangle. With an audience of mostly college students in mind, I drafted the logo to be bright, and youthful through bright colors and soft gradients. I added waves to emphasize the connection between the Department of Recreation and the larger UCSB brand.
